Daniel Anstandig

Future-minded and passionate, Daniel Anstandig was recently recognized by Billboard Magazine as one of the top five innovators in media. His experience includes developing digital business strategies for media companies, designing content strategies for broadcast and interactive, and coaching executives.

As the President of McVay New Media Consulting, Anstandig has advised The Wall Street Journal, CBS News, Clear Channel R&D, The White House Commission on Remembrance, Glencoe-McGraw Hill, TM Studios, and various broadcasting companies in the USA, Canada, and Europe.

Most Recently, Anstandig became the co-founder of Listener Driven Radio, a software company with applications that empower broadcasters to become “crowdcasters.”

Prior to joining McVay Media in 2001, Daniel’s experience includes stints as General Manager, Network/Syndicated Program Director, and On-Air Personality. In 2001, he was named the #1 Young Entrepreneur by Young Entrepreneur Magazine, in recognition of an internet-radio company he founded. Daniel is also a proud two-time recipient of Edison Media Research’s 30 Under 30 Award.

Daniel serves on the Board of Directors as Treasurer for Radio Conclave, a 501C(3) aiming to empower broadcasters to better serve their communities. He was also recently elected Board President of The Inner Connection, a non-profit organization that offers self-empowerment programs for underserved and underprivileged communities.

Mike McVay

Mike McVay began his career at the age of 15 in 1969 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as an air personality, while completing his education. He has programmed radio stations in Wheeling, Charleston, Louisville, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Cleveland. He was a general manager in Mobile and Cleveland. Mike, along with his wife Doris, have also owned and operated radio stations in Naples, Key West, Honolulu, and Flint, Michigan. McVay Media was founded as a part-time entity in 1979 and became his full-time avocation in 1984. He is the author of several broadcast primers, has written for Radio & Records and FMQB magazines as well as has contributed to Radio Ink magazine. His resume includes many public-speaking engagements around the world. Mike averages two public speaking appearances per/month.
Mike was involved in the creation and launch of the highly rated nationally syndicated program Delilah and he currently consults the much touted John Tesh Radio Show. His company consults Radio Stations, Artists/Singers, Syndicated Radio Programs and Networks, Television Programming, Authors and boasts a much publicized internet division named McVay New Media. The company has a New Business Development initiative that is developing new sales and programming products for advertisers.

Among the recognition he has received in his career is nominations for Consultant of The Year from Billboard Magazine, and Radio & Records Magazine. Mike won the Ohio Media Leader of The Year Award, Broadcaster of the Year from The Cleveland Association of Broadcasters and Mike won the Radio Music Award for Broadcast Consultant of The Year during the 2007 RMA’s in Las Vegas. For an unprecedented third year in a row he has been recognized as the Broadcast Executive of the Year (2006, 2007 and 2008) for Radio & Records magazine.

He lives in Avon Lake, Ohio, with his wife Doris. They are the parents of two daughters, Nicole and Jessica, son-in-law Jim Lanigan and one Granddaughter (Elle Jaimes Lanigan) and lots of nieces and nephews including Michael A. McVay II and Michael I. Fmura. Hobbies include collecting exotic cars, antique radios, reading, biking, and the search for the eternal tan. Mike & Doris are involved in their church and support several charities.

Lee Zapis

After more than 25 successful years as a radio executive, Lee Zapis joined forces with other family members to form Zapis Capital Group in 2003, a small private equity investor. Through Zapis Capital Group and on his own Zapis has been an active investor in technology and media companies. He was one of the early investors in Everstream, a streaming media pioneer. Most recently he invested in and joined the board of Sonicbids (www.sonicbids.com), the premier web site that helps bands get gigs, and promoters book the right bands.

Zapis is also part owner of Media One Group, owner of a five-station cluster in Jamestown, NY. He also serves as CEO of Symphony Publishing, a multimedia organization with leading magazines, e-newsletters, directories and websites serving music educators and independent retailers of musical instruments, children’s wear and footwear.

During his broadcast career, Lee was president of Zapis Communications, a closely held corporation that owned and operated radio stations in Cleveland, Akron and Youngstown, Ohio, as well as Atlanta and Boston. Under Lee’s guidance, his stations received numerous national broadcast awards, including: Billboard Magazine's Black Radio Station of the Year; Program Director of the Year; Music Director of the Year and Air Personality of the Year. Zapis Communications stations were also nominated eight times for the Marconi award, the highest honor of the National Association of Broadcasters. The company never won the coveted prize, preventing Lee from delivering the acceptance speech he practiced for 8 years.

Zapis is a former chairman of the board of the Orthodox Christian Network (www.receive.org), a national radio ministry. And he currently serves on the advisory board of the Nashville Songwriters Foundation, which honors and preserves the songwriting legacy of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame (www.nashvillesongwritersfoundation.com).

In spite of his busy schedule, Lee finds time to indulge his passion for music. He enjoys collecting custom guitars, and claims to be a passable player who loves practicing the music of renowned gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. Although he admits to being far from the caliber of Reinhardt, Lee paid further homage to his hero by naming his dog Django.

Lee Cornell, VP/Affiliate Relations

Lee Cornell is VP/Affiliate Relations for Listener Driven Radio. Cornell is an internationally experienced group broadcast programmer and manager, recognized for an energy, insight, and passion that benchmarks his years of broadcast success spanning Australia, the United Kingdom and the U.S.A. An Australian, with permanent residency status in the U.S., Lee is well versed in all aspects of broadcast and multi-platform digital content initiatives, related brand and sales strategies, and development and implementation of radio formats ranging from AC, to ROCK, CHR, COUNTRY, TRIPLE A, SPORT/TALK and HIP HOP /RHYTHMIC. His on-air, presenting, and programming career in Australia includes legendary major market stations 2KO, 6PM, 4IP, 2SM and the TRIPLE M Network’s NEW-FM; music-based television shows “RIGHT ON”, “ROCK SHOW”, live Saturday Morning shows with QTQ-9 /TEN Network; national radio syndication; and promotional activity embracing national festivals, Australian feature film, and concert events.

In the United Kingdom he launched and programmed WAVE 105.2 & 105.8 FM, the first major regional FM for the South of England which continues to commercially dominate it’s markets today; programmed The Radio Partnership overseeing major market leaders including THE PULSE and CLASSIC GOLD; was Group Program Director of The Wireless Group (TWG Ltd), the fourth biggest network in the UK developing and re-launching FM and AM stations across Scotland, Wales and England; and worked extensively on group license applications, audience analysis, radio research, and program development under the UK’s expanding commercial radio schedule. On arrival in the U.S. three years ago he was appointed OM/Brand & Marketing with MEC Network in San Diego.

A “detail man” and motivating “people-person”, Lee is at home generating and growing audiences through innovative programming, sales marketing, and promotions strategies that combine traditional radio with multi-platform digital content initiatives. He sees LDR Listener Driven Radio as a natural destination and path for where all future media-casters need to grow in today’s constantly evolving interactive space.

Lee, wife Monika, and Golden Retriever Sam, are now based in the mid-west in Michigan enabling him to pursue his other passions of fishing and finding a remotely respectable golf handicap.

David Rogerson, Australia / New Zealand / Asia Pacific

David Rogerson has been involved in nearly every facet of the radio industry from on air personality to Group Program Director to National Marketing Manager, all in a variety of Capital City and Regional markets around Australia. Past and present clients include commercial and public sector broadcasters in both radio and TV as well as government media legislators. David has served as the senior consultant to Arbitron in Asia Pacific for the development and implementation of the Portable People Meter technology, the electronic audience measurement system for radio, TV and the Internet.

His articles on the industry have been widely published both in Australia and overseas, with David regularly appearing as a guest speaker at global industry forums and conferences. David’s background covers close to 30 years in Media and Communications. He holds an Honours Diploma in Advertising through the University of Technology, Sydney; is a graduate of Radio Executive Management from the Notre Dame University, USA. He is a visiting guest lecturer in radio programming, marketing and research at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (attached to Sydney’s Macquarie University) and the University of Newcastle. David is currently in his final year studying part time for a Masters Degree in Business at Wollongong University, Australia. His area of speciality is in the emerging new media digital technology and social network field.

Gale Parmelee, Customer Relationship Manager

Gale Parmelee helps each LDR partner to achieve success on the platform. Gale brings focus and speed to each installation, having served as a brand manager, consultant, programmer, producer, and on-air talent through his twenty years in the media business. Gale’s experience includes seven years with Clear Channel as Brand Manager and Operations Manager/Program Director for stations in Burlington, VT (WEZF/Star 92.9) and Lebanon, NH (WXXK/Kixx100.5). He has also advised stations in the Adult Contemporary, Classic Hits, and Country Formats throughout New England. Gale’s true passion for radio and the "infinite dial," has fueled his passion to help others in the industry grow their business and increase revenue. In addition to Gale’s duties as LDR’s CRM he is also the owner of Otter Creek Media and the Executive Producer of the nationally syndicated “Nan O’Brien Show."
